Welcome to the first “What I Wore” post for the week of January 7th, 2019! I’m showing and sharing all of the outfits I wore to work this week. I really get inspired by looking at photos online of the outfits real women wear to work! I hope these outfit ideas help you mix up your work wardrobe and try something new!
I have convenient shopping links through out the post and a fun LiketoKnow.it shop the outfit section at the end of this post. I try to find the exact item I am wearing, but also spend lots of time searching for shop-able pieces that are a better price, on sale or might be a different color! When you shop from any of my links, I may get a small commission but it is at no additional cost to you!

Joked with my hubby that I looked like I should be off to the slopes in this turtleneck and black skinny jeans that look like ski pants! But, this outfit for day 1 of what I wore was perfect for this snowy day in Idaho. This emerald green turtleneck was so soft and warm. I did not have any other emerald green pieces in my closet, so this color was new on me. I found this exact sweater on Amazon – here. But the emerald green is sold out. They still have some other great colors and I also found one very similar on sale at Banana Republic.
These Naturalizer wide calf Jessie Boots are so comfortable and they hit about mid calf. I have them in chocolate, but they also come in black and banana bread (love that name) colors. You can find them on Amazon prime – here.
Layering up on day 2 of what I wore with this cool popcorn sweater from Vince Camuto and of course the cream is sold out, but they have it in Navy and Maroon! Which I think I need to get also!!
Question for you all? Do you tuck or untuck? I love leaving the plaid shirt untucked so you can see a peak of that fun plaid. Leaving your under blouse or shirt untucked makes you appear longer and slimmer. This plaid shirt from Tommy Hilfinger is a great color.
Opted to wear some nutmeg suede booties from Me Too and just let my very white ankles show! These midnight blue DenimFlex midrise jeans are my favorite style of colored jeans from Maurices! I’m all about the “midrise” fit! Who ever came up with the “low rise” trend in jeans and pants needs to change jobs. I am so thankful designers and stores are starting to carry normal rise pants again.
Wednesday’s what I wore outfit pushed me out of my fashion comfort zone just a bit! I felt really comfortable in this adorable chambray shirt dress and cardigan, BUT was a little self-conscious in these over the knee suede boots from a.n.a. JcPenney. The boots attracted a lot of attention at work. The comments were all very nice and complimentary, but it was almost too much attention. I found myself reverting back to my old self, the one that did not want to be seen, avoided wearing clothes that fit and tried to stay under the radar.
We need to stop doing that and just OWN IT! Own how we look, own what we are wearing and own who we are! So by the end of the day, I just owned it and said thank you with a big smile every time I was complimented on “those sexy boots!”
I did feel like showing off this amazing necklace from francesca’s. This Rebecca sandblast fringe necklace is so stunning and really in style right now (so the young gals tell me!)
My Day four what I wore outfit was right up my style! Comfy DenimFlex plum wine colored jeggings from Maurices, a long black cardigan, untucked blouse blouse also from Maurices on SALE! and these amazing black suede Pil-anthropy Riding boots from Kenneth Cole REACTION! Order a pair from Amazon – here . They are sold out most other places. These boots hit right under your knee, have a lot of flex to get around my calves and have a really easy-to-walk in heel.
Then it was FriYay! We have casual Fridays at WSU and can wear jeans as long as we also have on Cougar gear. Usually I am wearing the same 2 WSU Coug tshirts I have with blue jeans. Today I decided to be a bit more trendy! Showed off a Crimson and Gray color scheme instead and got a lot of compliments from fellow co-workers and students.
The sleet grey hooded cashmere cardigan I wore this week was a hand me down from my jet-setting Sister. It is from Saks Fifth Ave/Off 5th and was originally (don’t faint on me….) $298.00! I’m sure she did not pay that much for it. It is on sale now with an extra 50% off Code: Warmth for about $99.00. I have never owned a piece of cashmere clothing. So this was a real treat. It is so soft, cozy and feels so luxurious. For $99.00 it would be worth getting as it really is nice. Added some other budget friendly hooded cardigan options and have them in my LiketoKnow.it post below.
Another new find for me are these lace up wedge booties from Maurices! I was worried they would be “too” high of a heel and hard to walk in, but they are really comfortable. They are a fun alternative to slip on booties! HURRY SALE ALERT! They are OnSale for only $15.00!
